Great Marketing Copy – How to Grab Your Ideal Client’s Attention
Highly Converting Web Marketing Copy How to Grab Your Ideal Client’s Attention
Have you seen those websites where the home page is all about the business owner’s credentials, experience, services, etc.? It’s all about them and not the potential client. That information belongs on the service pages and about page. People don’t care about us until they know how much we care about them.
So, how do you grab their attention with your marketing copy? How do you get them to scroll down or click around for more information? What will get them to follow your clear call to action?
Effective marketing clearly and concisely outlines two things:
- What the client has but doesn’t want. Problems, frustrations, tolerations.
- What the client doesn’t have but really wants. Dreams, goals, desires.
I recommend starting with brainstorming a list of both of these. Ask former clients, current clients and potential clients and narrow down your list to the top two of each.
Use these to create highly effective marketing copy and grab your potential clients’ attention.
Define the primary problem or challenge and how you can solve it and/or the big opportunity you can help optimize for your target market (This will help you with your marketing content. How can you clearly define what their life will be and feel like after buying and using your products/services?)
Start with the problem, relate compassionately to them and their situation (I’ve been there before …). Then briefly transition to the solution and what’s in it for them. Be very brief on how you get them there, but provide a link to a page that explains how in detail.
With as few words as possible, create a real experience of their positive future after working with you. Using the word “imagine” helps them see and feel the benefits, results and positive emotional shifts.
This portion is the foundation to having your website, postcard or infomercial grab attention and leave them wanting more.
